Gilbert O'Sullivan & Gerry Dorsey - Humble Beginnings Of England's (1972)

Raymond "Gilbert" O'Sullivan and Arnold George Dorsey aka Engelbert Humperdinck are two singers who have changed their names. This their co-effort is quite unique album. Gilbert sings his own songs on side one and Engelbert only covers on his side two. I have never stumbled upon this kind of co-operation. Gilbert's passage is enjoyable; plain, acoustic feeling with an almost repetitive comping behind his songs make an authentic feeling. I picked this Pickwick album for 1 euro mainly because of the cover. There's something hypnotic in Gilbert's songs and i have listened his side of the album more than three times for now. Buy the way: 76 years old Gentleman Engelbert H represents England on Eurovision Song Contest this year 2012.
