Blonde On Blonde - Reflections On A Life 1971 (this re by wah wah)

Very good album. I happen to on an original copy of this and have reviewed this earlier on this blog. Fortunately there is Mika Tamminen 's Aikakone Antikva in Tampere and i was lucky to get a new Wah Wah copy of it.

Your Gang - The Daily Trip

This album was for years available on the wall of my favorite local record shop for 60e. I did not buy it and now i got it for 5e at a record fair here in Finland. I think it really is worth 5e even it may be quite rare.

Moonlight - The Edge, Modern dance in The Twilight Zone 1978 Tophits-Finnhits / Shadoks

Moonlight and northern lights from Finland. Progressive rock album. Beautifully simple organ driven music from Turku, Åbo. This did not sell  in 1978 so the original albums are very rare and sought after.

Catapilla - Changes 1972 Vertigo this re Akarma 2000)

Catapillas second record Changes is better than their debut. Anna Meek's vocals sound better too. Changes is an enjoyable prog-jazz blend from star to the end. Music flows peacefully and Ann's singing carries on the eternal feeling on the album.

I have today put six new records on my blog/record self and all of them are great music in different rstyles. I could listen this over and over again. One of the best records on Vertigo label, no doubt. Akarma has made unbilievable choises when re printing rare albums. You can always trus on Akarma.

T2 - It Will All Work Out in Boomland (1970 Decca this re 2005 Akarma)

Wow!!! T2 is the best band i have never heard of before. Seriously.. it is quite hard to understand why T2 is not better known. I f they had continued together they might today be as famous as such bands as yes, genesis, elp and so  on... I give this 9,8 of 10. It is hard to believe it was made already in 1970. It sounds so today and fresh. I can hear that the band does not take themselves too seriously and that is the reason they do it so well. There's some humour in there playing. It sounds like they are in a flow and that feeling took me too. I have to put it on my my top ten albums list even though there might already be some congestion. I'm so happy i picked this new copy at a record flea for 20 euros.

Ps. I feel shame that i did not know this band and album, but better late than... it saved my year. Happy happy happy happy happy!!!!!

July - July (1968 Major Minor re 2014 Parlophone)

What has happened. last time i wrote here about the Cd -copy of this and disd not like very much. Maybe it was because i don't like jade warrior and i listened it at the same time with July back then. Now i have a vinyl copy wich sounds awesome!. And familiar too because i have listened the CD many times. Not until now i realize that this vinyl is a mono version. Today i find July awesome, maybe one of the best psychrock albums i can recall.

Black Cat Bones - Barbed Wire Sandwich 1970 (1970 Decca this re by Tapestry 2007)

Kossof and Kirke are not on this album, they are Free. Hah! Barbed Wire is quality blues-rock, should i say it it is a guitar album by Rod Price.

King Crimson - Red (1974 Island, this re 198?)

Fripp, Wetton and Bruford... the best KC lineup which made band's three best record albums too: Lark's, Starless and Red and Red is obviously the top of that triangle. Great record.

Todd Rundgren - Todd (1974 Bearsville 2lp)

An excellent record. I first time in 70s purchased Utopia's live album and then some other Rundgren's records and this the latest find. Tood R is one of a kind of a genius, maybe not always understood as we as he should be. Since 1975 i have listened his music and am still a fan of him. There is something special in his music and maybe some zappaish moments/elements sometimes too. And i am a fan of Zappa as well.

Kalevala Orchestra - People No Names (Lp Re Svart 2015)

Allthough I'm Finnish (a person from Finland) myself and have listened to prog rock since early 70s, I never paid much attention to Kalevala Orchestra back then. I have put the band somewhere in the backroom of my interest. Now I'm trying to recall why i did so, because Paeople No Names turns out to be excellent prog rock. It took me about 40 years to notice it. Again, why? First I thought it was because I maybe did not like Harri Saksala's voice too much, but as a matter of fact he sings only on two tracks (and nowadays I like his singing on this album). Then I think I remembered why... It was later in 70s when I first time heard Kalevala. Their deput album's songs were not played a lot on the radio back then, but in 1978 their second album Boogie Jungle's song Boogie was played a lot. I recall that liked it but not more than progressive rock and I must have thought Kalevala Orchestra is mostly boogie style music. It is'n, not at all. This People No Names album did not sell a lot at that time it was released and accurate and original albums are nowadays very rare and hard to find. One seems to have been sold for about 1000 euros on ebay. So I did not have too many opportunities to listen to the real and progressive Kalevala Orchestra before this rerelease by Svart Records. The cover art is quite repulsive and my mental image of Kalevala being mostly boogie rock have formed my feelings to Kalevala orchestra through these years. Now I know the music of the band better and
thank Svart Records for reissuing this.

After all that personal speculation and recolloction of mine I just say that if you are in prog rock and have never heard of Kalevala Orchestra before,  I can foresee you may like them too. Their  third album Abraham's Blue Refrain is a bit milder and lighter effort, but not bad at all. Their second album Jungle Boogie maybe too under rated too, because it differs from these two others, but if you like straight boogie rock and have an open mind, it may please you as well.

If you dont like the main track People No Names because of the vocalist's sound, don't give up too easily. The other tracks are mostly instrumental and maay delight you more. After all I think this album earns a place as a classic among the others in the prog music genre.

Special respect to: Matti Kurkinen the band's guitarist would have challenged the two Finnish guitar maestros Jukka Tolonen and Albert Järvinen, if he only had not bee run down by a truck in a bus stop in 1975.

J. K. & Co. - Suddenly One Summer (1968 White Whale)

This one is on the second place on my list of The Most Underrated albums ever. So beautiful, light psychedelic music. Jay Kaye must be a genius when making this as a teenager, 16 or somethng. I love this album. I found this in 2009 and if i someday give away my record collection this is one of the last albums to let go.

Chango - Honey Is Sweeter Than Blood (1976 Mercury)

Some seem to say Chango is a Santana clone. It isn't. Chango is Chango. Enjoyable progressive latin rock.

Wet Willie - Wet Willie (1971 Capricorn)

Southern boogie rock is not my cup of tea, but this is quite ok. Picked this at a flea just because of the funny cover art.

Soft Machine - Bundles (1975 Harvest)

Excellent album by Soft Machine. This sounds even better than their previous albums.

Stranglers . The Raven (UA 1979)

I like this easy listening Stranglers style punk rock. Hypnotic like Violent Femmes. Zappa and Violent Femmes crossover...?

Farm - Farm

Jokaisessa levykokoelmassa pitää olla ainakin yksi outo anomalia. Minun anomaliassani tämä ei tosin taida tosin paljon poiketa kontekstista, mutta haitanneeko tuo ketään ellei edes vaimoani. Hän sanoi yhdestä kappaleesta että onko tämä nyt sitä Lemmyä? No ei ollut, mutta ehkä paikoin sitä samaa junnausta.

Morse Code Transmission - 2 (1972 this re)

Straight Canadian flavoured hard progressive rock from Canada. A lot of organ and jammy guitar boogie. Douple album but not too long for me at all. No ...---... feelings here at all. On the contrary.

Fron Page Review - Mystic Soldiers (1968 re Guerssen 2013)

There are of course some other  "This is one of the greatest..." arguments by me too, but this is one of those, with no doubt, of course. This is not only good but near great album.  Not as good as J.K.Co but quite near.

Master's Apprentices - Choice Cuts (1971 thi re Lucky Picgs)

Great  sounding hard psych prog rock. Some early punk rock elements are to be heard too, i think.

Valhalla - Valhalla (1969)

I'm so glad i have found some xcellent records these days. This is great prog influenced hard rock with organ and fuzzy guitar. Music for my ears. Read the review by RDTEN on RYM. I agree with him.

Bodkin - Three Days After Death (1972 this re)

Excellent organ and guitar driven heavish psych rock. One for me!

Stud - Stud (1971 re ?)

Yet another album and band i had never heard before. Awesome! Excellent, Super, Great,  ..

Philips EL-3302 Cassette Recorder

One of my first joint to music, a cassette recorder Philips EL-3302. I have recently purchased a very first cassette recorder Philips EL-3300 too. And have ordered new belts from Germany. It's amazing new parts for these kinds of old artefacts are still made and available. Isn't world great! Pure nostalgia! I.m going to go back to cassettes too...

Second Hand - Death May Be Your Santa Claus (1971 this re later)

Second hand music? I thank you group "Second Hand". I shake hands with you with my third hand. I also kept my third eye open all the way when listening. My third eye is my third ear as well. Jet i can not understand why some talented musicians decided to found a group and make music like this. Maybe they wanted to make some money. Yes this is so commercial music. You must be millionaires now. I'm in heaven still finding bands and albums like this and not only albums like this but just this.

Thank you The Second Hand you revujenated me some decades and brought me back to those years and feelings when i was 16 and found FZ first time.

Glass Family - Electric Band (1968 Warner Re Maplewood Records)

This is one of the best psychedelic music albums i have heard. Listening this makes me happy.

Ant Trip Ceremony - 24 Hours (1968 re Vinyl Lovers)

I like a this kind of music, jamming psych-hippie stuff. No special high lights there because the whole album lights high enough with no need to try anything else than you can express. Very good music from start to the end.

Le Orme - Collage (1971 Philips LP re 2015)

Very worth to listen prog rock and occasionally it sounds a bit like Emerson playing Hammond organ. PFM was the fist Italian band i listened to and i owned a couple of albums in 70's. Now 40 years later i found Le Orme and they both will have a permanent place in my record self.

Houston Fearless - S/T (1968 Imperial)

This guitar and organ driven psychedelic hard rock band from Texas sounds very good to me.
