Wil Malone - S/T (1970 re 2012)

Great  British baroque chamber folk-pop.

Mother Earth - Bring Me Home (1971 Reprise)

Very pleasant, comfortable and relaxing bluesy music. Tracy Nelson is the biggest part and sound of this album, putting Lotti Golden in my mind. High quality west coast folk-blues.

Mad River - S/T (1968 Capitols this re Sundazed 2008)

Long and jamming "Wind Chimes" and "The War Goes On" (sounds occasionally like King Crimson before King Crimson) make this album. They sound so fresh that it is hard to believe the album was made in 1968. Mad River sounds ahead of their times. Very, very good album indeed.

Milwaukee Iron - S/T (1978 Private)

This is no "born to be wild" stuff, but country and blue grass style. The girl on the cover, and owner of the "iron" beside her is Rogene Rush, who wrote and sang 8 of the 12 songs on the album. The "iron" is from Milwaukee, but the photo was taken at Shell Beach California.

The Magic Garden of Stanley Sweetheart (1970 MGM)

I don't often pick up film soundtracks, but Don Johnson on cover woke my interest. Didn't he by the way play drums in some band which name i can't recall just now? He is not playing drums on this but his first role in a long film as Stanley Sweetheart. Would like to see the film, the soundtrack is interesting and sounds good. Artists: Angeline Butler, Michael Greer (actor, a role on the film), Crow, David Lucas?, The Wheel?, Stilroc?, Bill Medley (Righteous Brother). It's a pity that Kathy Smith's "End of The World" from the complete soundtrack is not on the album.

Mr. Flood's Party - S/T (1969 Cotillion)

Mr. Flood's Party in one of the most unexpected lightly psychedelic rock albums i have heard for a long time. Everything on this very special album is on high level. This is a treasure one would like to hide and never to tell anybody a word about. I feel lucky to own a copy of this and have a chance to give it a spin whenever i like to feel "high". Mind Circus...! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9CrQSLW2rg

The Mama's and The Papa's - If You Can believe Your Eyes and Ears (1966)

California Dreaming.

Mint Tattoo - S/T (1969 DOT)

A total disappointment. Weird cover "art". One would guess this album is full of surplus songs which did not have room on their previous album, but there is no previous album, this is their sole one. "Vampire Symphony" is bearable. Good guitar work is the only light in this emptiness. Sorry! Nipples censored by me.

Michele O'Malley - Saturn Rings (1969 ABC re Fallout 2005)

Nice, cool, relaxing and solid set of hippie-psych folk by Michele. Most of the songs are composed by Curt Boettcher. Lowell George plays flute and harmonica (previously in Mothers, later in Little Feat) and Elliot Ingber guitar (Mothers, Fraternity of Man, Capt. Beefheart) on the album. Other musicians are Mike Melvoin and Bobby Notkoff/Narkoff. I think there is a studio band supporting too. The sounds and production are great. This album sounds better and better on every round and is slowly and indelibly growing on me.

Mama Lion - Give It Everything I've Got (1973 Philips)

The best piece of this compilation of bluesy tunes is the one that is not blues. I mean the opening track "Dark Garden". It is written by Lynn herself (with guitarist N. Merryweather). Jim Howard (i think he is James Newton Howard) playing soft Hammond organ and synthesizer on this track with Merryweather and Bob Rose on their acoustic guitars and Lynn's dreamy voice make me feel like wandering in Dali's "The Persistence of Memory". I hope there were more great tunes like this on the album.

The McCoys - Human Bell (1969 Mercury)

Begins with hard rock version of Johnny Be Goode. Then turns to rural. Next one, psych-jazz tinged piece "Epiloque" is quite good and best for now. Dylan's "All Over You" is not among his best songs. "Daybreak" is a seven and half minute mixture of mild blues, jazz and horn rock. Free jamming part in the middle of "Daybreak" is nice. "It Really Doesn't Matter" is a guitar driven bluesy song by R. Zehringer (later Derringer) with some unnecessary freakingout in the end. Then another mediocre blues... and then "Clergy Lies" with sound effects from toilet. Ends with "Sormy Monday Blues". Quite good guitar playing by Derringer but it may take some time for me to listen this again.

Morgen - Morgen (1969 Probe, this RE)

My first impression is: the base beat in this music is like The 13th Floor Elevators. Ok, the more the record spins, the more childish this becomes. BUT the still further i hear this the more confused i become. What the hell is this. I think, and i'm sorry to think like it, but i think this is kind of copycat music. This album is so odd that it must be a psychedelic masterpiece... he he.. Morgen Morgen nur nicht heute.. ist the most ooooooodddd thing i have met for a while. After listening this once and twice through i have to confess this "Morgen" is something i was not ready to hear... well, ööh, this is something i have hoped there will still exist, and here it is... Enjoyable drumming and guitarring and everything. Great record! After all, Morgen must be the best psychedelic album ever. Ps. I went grazy when listening this last night and wrote stream of consciouness shit. I wrote what i felt at the very moment the record was spinning and first my feelings varied from edge to another. This a shortened and cleaned version of that stream... Morgen is a superb, grazy, smooth, punkish, playful, skillful, inspired, garagecreasy, easily flowin psychedelic album. I never use the phrase "mind blowin'. Not until now."Everything i have imagined to exist in a perfect psychalbum is on this. Mind blowing!!!

Mojo (Mojo Men) - Mojo Magic (1968 GRT)

Nice sunshine pop with some light psychedelic scent. Mojo Men came from San Francisco. They sound a bit like Mamas & Papas but different enough in a good way to have an clearly own identity. After listening this two times through now i can still hear cool sunshine. Good work!

The Masked Marauders - S/T (1968 Reprise)

Edellä mainitut suuruudet levyllä eivät kuitenkaan esiinny, vaikka se siltä ehkä koettaakin kuulostaa, vaan bändi nimeltä "Cleanliness and Godliness Skiffle Band". Kuinka moni mahtoi vaatia 5 dollariaan takaisin?

Mama Lion - Preserve Wildlife (1972)

On siinä tyttö saanut avuja. Näyttävän ulkomuodon lisäksi Lynn Carey laulaa upean karheasti.

The Mothers Of Invention - Weasels Ripped My Flesh (Reprise)

Näätäeläimet vaihtoehtoisella, saksalaisella kansikuvalla, jonka ideaa en suoraan puhuen ymmärrä.

The Moody Blues - Seventh Sojourn (1972 Treshold)

Tasaisen taattua Moody Bluesia.

Mountain - Twin Peaks (1971)

Levyn kahden sivun mittainen "Nantucket Sleigh Ride" on kappale, jossa samaa, sinänsä jopa melko yksinkertaista teemaa onnistutaan toistamaan ja varioimaan yli 32 minuuttia eikä kertaakaan tule sellainen olo että saisi jo loppua. Ei tule, vaan on pakko laittaa sama pyörimään uudestaan. Tämä 2-lp on omistamisen arvoinen jo pelkästään NSR:n takia. Hard blues rockin parasta luokkaa! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0JrV86EKCs

Man - Welsh Connection (1976)

Onko tämä Se Man? On, mutta kovin erilaista kuin kaikki aiempi. Mikäli muistan oikein. Welsh- Connection etenee Pink Floyd vauhtia ja omaa Pink Floyd-vaikutteita jollain tasolla. En ensikuulemalla oikein päässyt jyvälle levyn ideasta, mutta tämä on niitä tapauksia, joille kannattaa antaa toinenkin tilaisuus. Pink Floyd ja Steely Fagen samassa tuubissa.
